- Abstract
- The stage and auditorium of a performing arts center are places where art performance and viewing activities occur. Also they are the only places where performers and the audience can meet. From the past, there have been many performing arts centers, but they all have a space for performance and a space for the audience. Major changes of the centers were made by the changes of the stage and auditorium, not by the changes of construction methods or other spaces within the centers or other functional structures. A personality of each performing arts center is determined by a construction method of a stage and an auditorium and by the performance genre being played.
Due to the factors of performance genre, auditorium size, and audiovisual capacity, the stage and auditorium have changed over time by keeping a complementary relationship with each other. They have characteristics of the time in terms of functionalization, systemization, visualization, and specialization.
