The lexical meaning of field administration is “to supervise and control”. It is prescribed as “「Field Administration」means the action to check whether structures, building equipments, or buildings are carried out in accordance with the plans according to the building code under self-responsibility and to direct and supervise about quality control, construction control and safety control etc.” in the provision of Article 2 of architects regulation. It is prescribed as being divided into “examination & measurement administration, construction administration and supervision in the provision of Article 2 of Construction Technology Management Act. The supervision system over construction work provides nearly all matters of work so it makes the limit of work obscure and due to this, the responsibility is also ambiguous. As well, most inspection and supervision for structures are committed to the engineers, however, when professional architecture officials take the inspection and supervision for at least public sector, more efficient safety of the public will be secured. This study aims at advancing our construction field and enhancing international competitive power by seeking for solutions to problems and improving current system to a reasonable construction administration system through comparing and analyzing Korean construction administration with advanced foreign construction supervision system.-
