Abstract
The aim of this paper is to examine formal change aspects and modern features of Modernizing Period(from late 19th century to early 20th century)'s Korean Poetry by making <ChoDangMun- DabGa(초당문답가)> an object of this study. The results are as follows. <ChoDangMunDabGa> is a multi-text of Gasa, in which several another works are founded together under the fixed theme. It was in fashioned broadly, and has many different versions. The most completed form of those is a type that each works are constituted a dialogue structure and were systematic. It is a characteristic of poetic word and expression that an affection is stimulated by the use of everyday experienced words, and that a real-emotional expression is achieved by the application of concrete and vivid illustration. Also, free is the shift of a speaker and a hearer, and commanded are appropriate words for objects. The author of this work is very good at Gasa-style and has an outstanding ability to embody a theme. Viewing from composing method, poetic word and expression, <ChoDangMunDabGa> is a work not that one author creates consistently but that something of a scriptwriter rearranges already existing works in dialogue structure in the process of remaking it. In the whole structure of this work is a course to persuade the young who goes to modernity with a dialogue between the old and the young. In the conclusion, charging groups' purpose to notify their own conservativeness effectually is the work's main theme and its basis of those days' mutual understanding. They utilized pseudo- narrative techniques with choosing the mode of Gasa, the most popular genre at that time; and reflected modern elements (embossing the youth, emphasizing the individual and family, considering female, pursuing economical profit, etc.).
