- Abstract
- This study has a purpose in proposing a program to restore general commercial district inside Hwaseong, which was the old downtown, and to activate the stagnant commercial power.The preservation and restoration of commercial district inside Hwaseong should be practiced as following.Cultural relic of Hwaseong should be restored as both a facilities in actual use and a landmark. The Roads inside Hwaseong should make the approach to the center of commercial district from the castle easy, and the sightseeing routes that connect each cultural relics in the castle should also be introduced. All the roads should be restored for public transportations and pedestrians. Commercial buildings and street furniture in Hwaseong should introduce various traditional designs and use materials diminishing environmental pollution. The preservation and restoration of Hwaseong have its meaning and possibility when regional residents, corporations, and government pay continual attention and efforts.
