Abstract
Abstract: What comes to mind when you think of algorithms? The first thing that comes to mind is algorithmic recommendation that shows content based on user interest in YouTube or Instagram, which we are closely familiar with. The term algorithm is familiar, but it still feels far away from us. However, architects have been developing and attempting designs using algo- rithms for a long time, and first created the concept of parametric design through algorithms and parameters. The development of such technology is revealing its presence not only in the realm of architecture but also in the realm of craft and design. These advances in technology enable us to think new things and make things previously thought impossible possible. In this study, the concept and examples of the algorithm and grasshopper, which is an algorithm appli- cation program, are explained, and the grasshopper is used to create a bench. After parametric design with grasshopper, the modeling from the design is implemented as it is using a 3D printer. The strength is tested through a mock-up before production, and the work is finished with polyurea coating after production. Through this study, we experimented with the possi- bility of making furniture using algorithms and made it known that computer-generated graphics can be used in practice. It is expected that the results will lead to the development of a pro- duction method that incorporates new forms and technologies that have not existed before.
