Abstract

Increasingly, technical service is turning to be essential to global steel leaders seeking to satisfy customer needs and eventually create value. Despite this, technical service have been not definitely discussed with theoretical scope yet. To better understand the service function in manufacturing, we introduced a concept of demand chain management in steel industry. By linking global steel leaders' technical service to the demand chain, this research emphasizes on the importance of service activity in manufacturing industry. We gather data from both interview and POSCO's overseas office, and address cases to derive some characteristics of technical service between European and Japanese global steel leaders. Then, we conclude with managerial implications to be able to reinforce the competence of technical service for manufacturing companies,
