There axe a number of Computer-Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools in the market today which provide automatic code generation. The code generated, however, needs additional manual development in the Application Programming Interface (API) for example, in order to be a deliverable software component. This paper gives three means of providing socket interfaces to an SDL model for the rapid development of networking software, and illustrates these means via the Telelogic TAU toolset. We developed these packages with different goals, to help SDL designers and/or system developers with different needs. We discuss some problems encountered and our corresponding solutions, and suggest a more general, tool-independent solution.-
