Abstract
Elevators include various components such as basic structures, traction machines, plates, and supporters. Among these, a bracket assembly is critical for supporting traction machines. A bracket assembly consists ofseveral parts and fasteners that are heavy and time-consuming to assemble, thus reducing the work efficiency. This study redesigned a bracket assembly based on the design for additive manufacturing by utilizing thegenerative design and automated modeling of a commercial software to reduce the total weight and numberof parts. To do this, we first set the design requirements, then set the spatial constraints for the generativedesign, and finally validated their compliance through simulation. From the verification results, we confirmedthat the final redesigned shape met the design requirements while achieving more than 50% lightweight.
