- Abstract
- This paper concerns the incorporation of steel fiber in reinforced concrete beams with stirrups under the combined effect of shear and moment. Then, this study is presented for the significant effect of steel fibers in improving the shear resistance of reinforced concrete beams with stirrups. The approach described in this study follows the basic concept outlined by Imam et al.9) in their considerable study for shear-moment interaction of steel fiber reinforced concrete beams.Based on the present test results and earlier published studies, a method of predicting ultimate shear strength of beams and flexural strength, when reinforced with stirrups and steel fibers, is proposed.According to this equations, an analytical model was developed and published for predicting the relative flexural capacity of steel fiber reinforced concrete beams(M_u / M_fl), i.e., the ratio of moment with shear interaction to pure flexural moment. The observed modes of failure for 77 test beams agree well with the predictions. Data presented in the literature are also analyzed and compared.
