The backyard of Korean Changdeok Palace and Uhwawon of Chinese Forbidden City are both influenced by the Confucianism thought, Taoism thought, the idea of Taoist hermit with miraculous powers, and Feng Shui thought. Pavilions in the backyard of Changdeok Palace were allocated in accordance with the mountain terrain, broadleaf trees have mostly been planted, and buildings have been stationed asymmetrically with attractive shape, and with quite enough space structure fit for the recovery of mind and body. In contrast, Buildings in Uhwawon of Forbidden City have been stationed symmetrically focusing on the scenery of the front and the rear sides, with a mysterious atmosphere and artificial esthetics. Pine trees and Oriental arbor vitaes in Uhwawon also expose the emperor’s authority. From the point of tourism system, the backyard of Changdeok Palace needs to limit the number of visitors and to solve the problems. Although, Uhwawon of Forbidden City are more active in international exchange in the fields of tourism, literature, and art compare to the backyard of Changdeok Palace, it still needs a prudent protection policy because it is under the vulnerable environment of cultural assets management.-
