The purpose of this study is to investigate a relationship among physical characteristics, balance ability and muscle tone. It is also to figure out whether these variables show differences by gender type. 62 adults (Male : 32, Female : 30) participated in this study. Automatic measuring height machine (height), Inbody720 (weight), Myoton PRO (Rectus femoris, Biceps femoris), Pedalo balance system (Coordination front-back), Y-balance test were conducted to measure the variables of height, weight, muscle tone (frequency, elasticity, stiffness) and dynamic/static balance ability. The data were analyzed using the pearson’s correlation coefficient among physical characteristics, balance ability and muscle tone. The results of this study are as follows: First, the significant correlation was shown between static balance ability and height, weight & rectus femoris muscle elasticity in male group. Second, the significant correlation was shown between dynamic balance ability and height & weight in male group. Third, the significant correlation was shown between static balance ability and rectus femoris elasticity in female group. Forth, the significant correlation was shown between dynamic balance ability and height, rectus femoris elasticity & biceps femoris frequency in female group. In conclusion, it seems that there is a relationship between balance ability and physical characteristics. And women has stronger correlation between balance ability and muscle tone than men. Therefore, this results can help future study about muscle tone and balance by giving standard data to researchers.-
