The purpose of this study was to measure the contents of antioxidant of Orostachys japonicus A. Berger. To identify the main functional materials of Orostachys japonicus A. Berger, the contents of flavonoid were measured. Orostachys japonicus A. Berger was extracted with a solvent of 70% ethanol and analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) for qualitative analysis of some flavonoids as a pharmacologically active substance. Several flavonoids including kaempferol, quercitrin, isoquercitrin, p-coumaric acid, and β-sitosterol, were successfully characterized from ethanol extracts of Orostachys japonicus A. Berger by using HPLC and SFC. In conclusion, antioxidant activities of ethanol extracts of Orostachys japonicus A. Berger were in proportion of the contents of flavonids such as kaempferol.-
