가정생활 관련 학부모교육 프로그램 개발을 위한 탐색적 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 가정생활 관련 학부모교육 프로그램 개발의 기초적 자료 수집을 위한 탐색적 성격의 연구이다. 이를 위하여 확률표집에 의거 798명의 대전광역시 소재 초등학교 학부모들을 대상으로 설문조사하였다. 설문참가자들이 경험한 학부모교육의 실태와 교육적 요구를 분석한 결과, 학교에서의 부모교육에 참가한 경험은 절반 이하였으며, 이들이 경험한 교육주제도 제한적인 것으로 나타났다. 또한 부모자녀관계, 성폭력 예방교육 등 실천적 기술과 밀접한 주제들도 강의 위주의 교육으로 진행되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 자녀양육과 관련한 정보를 얻는 경로로는 대부분 또래학부모와 친구 혹은 인터넷 등의 비전문적이고도 부정확한 정보원에 의존하고 있었으며, 학부모들은 건강한 가정생활관련 부모교육이나 일반적인 부모교육에 대해 모두 강한 필요성과 요구를 갖고 있었다. 한편, 가정생활 관련 학부모교육 주제로서 어떠한 내용을 원하는가에 대해 요구분석을 실시한 결과, 크게 ‘건강한 생활습관’ 그리고 ‘품성과 대인관계’의 요인이 도출되었다. 학부모들은 이 두 가지 영역에 대한 높은 요구를 피력하였고, 특히 이들의 요구수준은 학부모의 직업 그리고 근무상황에 따라 유의한 차이를 보이고 있었다. 또한 프로그램의 길이, 운영시간에 대한 요구도 학부모의 상황에 따른 차이를 보여주고 있었고, 강의 위주의 교육 보다는 실제 생활에 실천능력 배양을 위한 다양한 교수법을 원하고 있었다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 향후 초등학교에서의 가정생활교육관련 학부모교육 프로그램 개발을 위해서는 첫째, 학부모들의 다양한 요구에 민감할 것, 둘째, 가정생활 관련 학부모교육은 우리사회의 보편적 서비스가 되어야 함, 셋째, 학부모의 상황과 요구에 민감한 맞춤형 교육을 제시하기 위해서는 지역사회의 네트워크의 구축과 활용전략이 필요하다는 제언을 제시하였다.

This study investigated the parental experience and needs in parenting programs conducted at the elementary schools to provide the basic data for the parenting education related to the Practical Arts Education. The 798 parents from the elementary schools located at the Daejeon metropolitan area were recruited by employing the systematic clustering sampling technique, and answered the self-reported-survey instrument. Only a half of parents had participated at the parenting education of their children's elementary schools. The topics in the education programs they experienced were limited and not customized, and instructed through the traditional lecture at the most of the time, expressing the dissatisfaction on their previous educational experience. The parents expressed various needs in parenting education both related to the Practical Arts Education and in general, in terms of contents and administration. The results from this study highlighted that parental desires to be an able parent was high but they depended on the non professional informational resources such as friends or internet. Also, parental needs in the contents were integrated into the two major spheres, 'healthy life habits' and 'good personality and abilities to build healthy relationships.' The parents valued both grand topics and also, according to their situations such as mother was working outside at home and/or occupational demand, the levels of needs expression varied. To fill in the gaps of parental needs and current practices in parenting education at the elementary school, authors of this study suggested to sensitize in the various parental needs, to aware the parenting education as the fundamental needs among the parents, and to provide customized at the various parental needs and high quality contents through the parenting academy by organizing community networks.
