중학교 성교육담당교사의 애로사항

Abstract

본 연구는 최근 저 연령화 되어가고 있는 청소년들의 성 행태 등과 관련하여 중학교 성교육을 담당하고 있는 보건교사와 가정교사를 대상으로 성교육시 애로사항, 향후 방향성, 성교육과정에 대한 인식 및 전문성을 파악하기 위한 서술적 조사 연구로서 학교 성교육을 담당하는 교사들의 역량강화와 전문성을 제고하기 위한 기초자료를 제공하고, 향후 바람직한 중학교 성교육을 위한 대안모색을 위해 수행되었다. 연구대상자는 서울, 경기, 인천지역 성교육 담당교사 총 400명을 최종 분석하였고, 통계처리방법은 SPSS 21.0 Program을 활용하여 χ2-test, t-test, Pearson Correlation을 수행하였다. 본 연구결과, 성교육 담당교사 가장 큰 애로사항은 학생들의 발달수준이나 성에 대한 태도가 다르다는 점, 스마트폰이나 SNS발달로 음란물 접속통제가 어렵다는 점 순 이었다. 보건교사와 가정교사간의 애로사항이 유의하게 차이가 나온 항목으로는 ‘입시위주의 교육과정으로 성교육 시수확보가 어렵다는 점’, ‘학교규모(과대학급)에 따라 성교육 지도교사선정이 어려운 점’, ‘교과의 중복이나 학년의 중복으로 학생들의 흥미유발이 어렵다는 점’ 등이었으며 3개 항목 모두에서 보건교사가 유의하게 높게 나왔다. 향후 학교성교육 방향에 대해서는 금욕이나 순결, 혹은 성 개방교육이나 피임교육에 한정하기보다는 대부분의 교사가 ‘포괄적 성 교육’과 ‘성적자기결정권 강화’ 교육으로 가야한다고 인식하고 있었고, 데이트성폭력, 성매매와 성 상품화, 성과 관련된 법률의 이해에 대한 교사 연수 요구도가 높게 나왔다. 성교육 담당교사들의 성교육과정에 대한 인식과 전문성간의 상관관계에서는 유의한 양의 상관관계(r=.293, p<.01)가 존재하는 것으로 나왔다. 결론적으로 중학교 성교육 담당교사들의 애로사항이 다양하고 교사특성별로 그 내용에 차이를 보이고 있으므로 정책적 접근을 달리하여 지원할 필요가 있다.

Purpose: This study aims to compare difficulties in sex education for school health teachers and home economic teachers. This is a descriptive that aims to understand awareness for sex education and to provide baseline data for sex education empowerment and improvement. Method: Structure questionnaires were mailed to a total of 890 teachers including 445 school health teachers located in 150 schools in Seoul, 240 schools in Gyeonggi-do Province and in 55 schools in Incheon and, also, to 445 home economic teachers. 410 questionnaires were returned. Excluding 10 incomplete questionnaires, a total of 400 questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS 21.0. Results: The biggest difficulties that the sex education teachers face were students’ varying development levels and attitudes toward sex. Secondly, teachers identified difficulties in controlling students’ access to pornography due to their smart phone access and SNS. Thirdly, a lack of consensus in social value in school sex education. The significant difference between school health teachers and home economic teachers came from school curriculums that focus on college entrance examinations. Such curriculums resulted in difficulties in establishing class hours for sex education, difficulties in selecting teacher for sex education due to large scaled classes. It was shown that school health teachers were having more difficulties than home economic teachers. Conclusion: Because the difficulties that school health teachers and home economic teachers face are different, policies should be different for each teacher. Training programs to empower teachers for sex education should be provided to increase teachers’ confidence and dignity.
