사립유치원 원장의 생애에 대한 연구

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 사립유치원 원장들의 생애가 어떻게 전개되는지를 살펴보고, 사립유치원 원 장의 생애가 어떠한 의미를 갖고 있는지를 알아보는데 있다. 이를 위해 20여년간 사립유치원을 운영한 원장 4명을 연구참여자로 선정하였다. 자료수집방법으로 개별 심층면담이 사용되었다. 개별 심층면담은 연구참여자별로 3-5회씩 실시되었고, 면담시간은 1시간에서 2시간 사이로 포화표집될 때까지 실시하였다. 연구결과, 사립유치원 원장의 생애는 유치원과 분절할 수 없는 것으로 나타났다. 사립유치원 원장은 오랫동안 유치원을 운영하면서 유치원 일이 곧 자신의 일이라고 여기고 있었다. 수집된 자료를 분석한 결과를 바탕으로 도출해 낸 사립유치원 원장으로서의 삶의 의미는 ‘생존하기 위한 몸부림’과, ‘경청하는 습관 가지기’을 거쳐, ‘고목으로 살아가기’로 완성되는 것으로 나타났다.

The aim of this study is to examine the life-long cycle of principals in private kindergartens and inquire into the meanings that the careers of principals possess to their life-long cycle. For the study, 4 private kindergarten principals with careers of 20 years of management have been selected as study participants. Data have been collected through in-depth interviews from each participant. Participating principals were interviewed 3 to 5 times for 1 to 2 hours each interview. According to the collected data, life-long careers of private kindergarten principals are found to be inseparable from kindergarten. Private kindergarten principals consider their careers in kindergarten as their lives. The meanings of principals’ life-long cycle based upon the collected analysis from interviews are drawn to be ‘attempts for survival’, ‘learning to have attentiveness’ and ‘firmly following one’s own motto’.
