Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze relationships among young children’s school adjustment ability, ego-resilience, and self-esteem. The subjects used in this study were 189 children whose mean age was five-and-a-half years attending an early childhood institution located in K state and S city. This study used ‘Preschool Adjustment Questionnaires’, ‘Devereux Early Childhood Assessment’, and ‘Young Children’s Sense of Self-Esteem Inventory’ in collection of data. The collected data were analyzed through SPSS 19.0 program. Pearson’s correlation was employed to find out the correlations among variables, and multiple regression was conducted to figure out the impact of each variable on young children’s school adjustment ability. The results of this study were as follows: First, there were positive correlations between school adjustment ability and ego-resilience. Second, there were positive correlations between school adjustment ability and self-esteem. Third, the sub-categories of ego-resilience including ‘initiative’, ‘self-concept’, and ‘attachment’, and the sub-category of self-esteem, ‘physical competence’ were revealed to be predictable variables for young children’s ‘school adjustment ability’.
