| dc.description.abstract | Females who play sports or perform dance intensely encounter the problem calledfemale athlete triad(FAT) when they have been exposed for a long time to the lowerenergy state. FAT occurs when the energy availabilities of testees are maintained less thana threshold value (30 kcal∙kg FFM-1∙day-1). In this review article, the concept of energyavailability and its importance have been discussed. The generic mechanism of FAT wasexplained based on the concept of the energy availability and an application example forfemale dancers was suggested.
