Abstract
Crystals of two antimony(III)-coordination complexes, [Sb(PDC)(HPDC)(H 2 O)] and [Sb 2 O(PDC) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ] (PDC = pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylate) have been grown via hydrothermal reactions. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction indicates that [Sb(PDC)(HPDC)(H 2 O)] and [Sb 2 O(PDC) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ] reveal pseudo-unidimensional and chain structures, respectively, and are composed of SbO 3 N 2 or SbO 4 N polyhedra, 2,6-PDC ligand, and H 2 O. The central Sb 3+ cations in both materials are in highly distorted environment attributable to the stereoactive lone pairs on Sb 3+ ions. UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectra clearly indicate the introduction of Sb 3+ cations into the coordination system through the red-shift of the maximum peaks. Photoluminescence measurements suggest that [Sb 2 O(PDC) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ] is a single component yellowish green light emitting material with a remarkable decay lifetime of 8.4 μs at room temperature. © 2019 Elsevier Inc.
