- Abstract
- With the expansion of the beauty industry, the number of students participating in beauty contest. This study has attempted to analyze student motivation in participating in beauty contests as well as their satisfaction and expectations. First, student motivation in participating in beauty contests was classified into the establishment of social relationships,the development of competence, forced recommendations and curiosity. In addition, student satisfaction was divided into satisfaction with the beauty contest and satisfaction with their major. Lastly, student outcome expectations were classified into growth potential and intention to participate again. Second, the establishment of social relationships had a positive effect on student satisfaction with the beauty contest and their major. On the contrary, forced recommendation had a negative effect on satisfaction with major. Third,development of competence had a positive effect on growth potential and intention to participate again while forced recommendation had a negative effect on growth potential.
Fourth, in terms of gender, a difference was observed in the establishment of social relationships, forced recommendation and satisfaction with beauty contests. In terms of school year, on the other hand, a difference was found in the establishment of social relationship, satisfaction with major and intention to participate again.
