유치원 교실에서 이루어지는 만 4세 유아의 자발적 쓰기 양상 분석

Abstract

본 연구는 영유아 주도적이고 생활 속에서 소통과 표현의 도구로서 쓰기 활동의 중요성을 제시하고 그 의미를 밝히기 위해서 유아의 자발적 쓰기가 어떻게 이루어지는지를 분석하여 문해교육적 측면에서의 쓰기의 의미를 밝히고자 하였다. 만 4세 유아 두 학급을 연구대상으로 선정하여 유치원 교실에서 이루어지는 유아의 자발적 쓰기의 양상을 관찰하였다. 본 연구에서 ‘유아의 자발적 쓰기’는 ‘유치원 교실에서 자유선택활동 시간 중 자유롭게 유아의 선택으로 시작된 쓰기’만을 의미한다. 관찰된 연구결과 첫째, 유아의 자발적 쓰기의 목적은 ‘정보 제공하기’, ‘상상적 표현하기’, ‘의사소통하기’, ‘모방하기’, ‘체험적 쓰기’이며 ‘정보 제공하기’에는 ‘작품의 주인 의식 표시하기’, ‘작품명 쓰기’, ‘알고 있는 정보나 지식 알리기’가 포함된다. 둘째, 만 4세 유아들이 쓴 내용 안에는 유치원 생활주제와 유아의 일상생활 경험의 영향을 받은 것들이 나타났는데 그 내용은 ‘숫자’, ‘사랑과 우정’, ‘창작 이야기’, ‘과학’, ‘외국어’였다. 셋째, 만 4세 유아 자발적 쓰기에 나타난 쓰기형식의 특성으로는 ‘긁적이기’, ‘글자 형태 출현’, ‘소리와 관계없는 창안적 글자’, ‘소리와 관계있는 창안적 글자’, ‘관례적 쓰기’ 다양한 쓰기 형식이 만 4세 유아 동일연령 집단에서 나타났다.

The present study intended to find out the meaning of child initiative writing in emergent literacy by analyzing how young children write spontaneously in order to present the importance and meanings of writing as a tool of communication and expression. Two four-year-old children classes were selected and the study focused on four-year-old children's spontaneous writing in the classroom. In this article “young children's spontaneous writing” means “a writing that young children choose at a free choice time in the class.” Research findings revealed that, first, the purposes of spontaneous writing of four-year-old children were providing information, expressing imagination, communicating, copying, and heuristic writing. Providing information includes showing ownership, writing the title of an artwork, and informing knowledge and information children know. Second, the contents of children's writing are related to themes of the curriculum at early childhood centers and everyday life experiences, such as numbers, love and friendship, creative story, science, and foreign language. Third, looking at the characteristics of spontaneous writing of four-year-old children, children show all different levels of stages, such as scribbling, letters-random, pre-phonetic invented spelling, phonetic invented spelling, and conventional writing even though they are in the same age group.
