Unprecedented 1-D helical calcium organic framework material, Ca[NC5H3(CO2)(2)](H2O)(1.5), has been synthesized for the first time under hydrothermal reaction conditions using Ca(OH)(2), 2,6-NC5H3(CO2H)(2), (CH3)(2)-NCOH, HNO3, and H2O as reagents. A complete characterization including the transformation of the helical chain with pincers to another helix with steps by the reaction with water is reported.-
