Lee, H.S., Kim, I.H., Cho, W.C. and Yoon, J.S., 2011. Shoreline and sea bed change along Gangmun Shore, South Korea. Journal of Coastal Research, SI 64 (Proceedings of the 11th International Coastal Symposium), 776 - 780. Szczecin, Poland, ISSN 0749-0208 A geomorphological analysis of the changes in the shoreline and the sea bed is required when examining the impacts of coastal development. In this study, data for the shoreline and the sea bed were obtained using a combination of a real-time kinematic global positioning system (RTK-GPS) and echo sounding methods. These data were used for modelling the changes in shoreline position as a result of both waves and tidal motion. Changes in the shoreline and the sea bed during this period were analysed with respect to profile shape and cross-shore direction. With appropriate data processing, the profile and the cross-sectional data were used for analyzing the layout and the slope of the shore with the aim of estimating local beach configuration. Results show important variations in the relative positions of the initial shoreline and that erosion was localised around the training dike in the Gangmun Port. Analyses of such erosion and accretion zones along beaches could are important aspects in the development of adequate beach management strategies for the site.-
