혐오와 원시성의 문제들: 야만인을 기다리며 를 중심으로

Abstract

이 논문은 혐오와 원시성의 개념을 쿳시의 야만인을 기다리며 에 나오는 사건의 유사점과 차이점을 기술하면서 야만인을 원시사회로부터 응시하는데서 발생하는 문제점들을 탐색한다. 혐오는 사랑, 미움, 진실, 그리고 거짓 같은 개념과 차이가 날 때 느끼는 감정이다. 혐오는 인간의 욕망, 삶, 죽음, 문명 그리고 문화를 문학과 철학의 이질적인 문제들로 접근할 때 새로운 해석의 방법이 제시된다. 쿳시는 야만인과 원시성의 요소들을 작품에 포함한다. 그러나 사건에는 야만인이 등장하지 않는다. 그것은 이미 야만인에 대한 형이상학적 모델이 만들어졌기 때문이다. 그러한 문제는 우리를 문학적 상상과 철학적 이성의 깊이가 아니라 실제로 거기에 어떤 문제가 있는지를 생각하게 만든다. 우리는 야만인을 상상하는 것이 아니라 그들이 누구인가를 알아야 야만인에 대한 혐오와 원시성을 이해할 수 있다.

This paper aims at making the concept in space and time in order to understand abjection and primitivity. Abjection is the feeling when concepts such as love, hate, truth, and deceit can not be abandoned or reused. This fact leads people to recognize the problems of human desire, life, death, civilization and culture. In Waiting For The Barbarian, there are elements that can make us understand savages and primitivity. Rousseau explained this kinds of similarities and differences between the primitive society and human society. Hobbes created a model of power to explain human's savage mind in the primitive state. There is no barbarian emerged in the novel who causes the fear and abjection to the people. These are the problems in the absence and silence of the barbarians. They were outsiders of the event that created nonexistence in the context. This paper provides possible motivations to solve the problems of their clamors and realities. We can not predict the depth and width of primitive nature in the model of literature and philosophy. The events that savages were not there are not in the time and place of our understanding. Therefore, this paper tries to see where the barbarians and primitivities were.
