Measurement of deuterons scattered from the C-12(p,d)C-11 reaction by using a double-sided silicon strip detector

- Abstract
- We measured deuterons scattered from the C-12(p, d) C-11 reaction with a 45-MeV proton beam at the new beam line of the MC-50 cyclotron installed at the Korea Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences (KIRAMS). Particle identification was performed with a Delta E-E telescope composed of a double-sided silicon strip detector (DSSD) and a single-area silicon strip detector (SSD). The excitation energies of C-11 were measured at detection angles of 92.2 degrees to 136.7 degrees in the laboratory frame. The differential cross sections for the C-12(p, d) C-11 reaction were estimated for the ground state, the 2.00-MeV state, the 4.32-MeV state, and the 4.80-MeV state of C-11. We obtained a proton-beam energy resolution of 300 keV for the 45-MeV proton beam at the new beam line, which indicated the feasibility for charged-particle experiments using the cyclotron at KIRAMS.
