dc.description.abstractThe time-dependent spatio-temporal structures in positive-bias plasma diodes are investigated by employing a one-dimensional particle simulation. Nonlinear evolution of a large-amplitude self-oscillation and transitions to chaos are analyzed by using the time-varying potential profiles and their power spectra. The three standard routes to chaos (period doubling, intermittency, and quasiperiodicity) are observed and the first observation of the attractor-competing phenomena is also reported.-
