시기별·활동별 문화자본에 따른 순수예술 관람수요 결정요인 분석

Abstract

본 연구는 국민의 순수예술 향유의 저변확대를 위해 문화향수실태조사의 2014년과 2016년 자료를 통합하여 순수예술 영역인 전시예술과 공연예술을 중심으로 관람수요 결정요인을 비교분석하였다. 본 연구의 종속변수인 관람횟수가 영과잉 가산자료인 특성을 반영하여 영과잉음이항모형(zero-inflated negative binomial model)을 적용하였다. 분석 결과 첫째, 과거(유·아동기, 청소년기) 시기별로, 최근(1년 이내) 활동별로 다양하게 축적한 문화자본이 순수예술의 수요량을 결정하는 핵심요인으로 나타났다. 이는 유·아동기와 청소년기를 거쳐 오랜 시간 동안 누적되어 온 취향이 보다 중요하며, 순수예술에 대한 취향이 형성된 수요자는 한 가지 활동을 반복하는 것보다 다양한 활동을 골고루 경험하는 것이 매우 중요함을 시사한다. 따라서 시기별 경험의 양적 확대와 더불어 활동별 경험의 질적 다양화를 위한 수요자 중심의 정책적 지원방안 마련이 필요하다. 둘째, 공연예술은 수도권과 비수도권의 수요격차가 발생함에 따라 물리적 접근성을 도모하여 지리적 제약을 완화하고, 전시예술은 교육수준과 문화예술교육 경험이 보다 중요하게 나타남에 따라 정규교과 외에 다각적인 교육 프로그램을 도모하여 관람의 접근성을 제고하여야 한다.

For the purpose of expanding people’s enjoyment of fine arts, this study examines the determinants of the demand of fine arts including exhibition and performing arts. Since a dependent variable is zero-inflated count data which includes many zero counts of participation, we employ the zero-inflated negative binomial (ZINB) model. Our findings are as follows. First, a core factor for fine arts demand is cultural capital which is accumulated by past periods (infancy/childhood, adolescence) and by cultural activities within a year. This indicates that it is necessary for government to establish a consumer-oriented support policy expanding experiences by periods and diversifying cultural activities. Second, there is the demand gap in performing arts between capital and non-capital regions. It suggests an alternative improving physical and educational accessibility as well as alleviating geographic restrictions. On the other hand, educational level and educational experience in culture and arts are more important factors in the exhibition area. This result implies that we need various extra-curriculum programs to strengthen artistic abilities of exhibition.
