유아의 그림을 통해 본 그림책 읽기 경험에 대한 이미지 분석

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 그림에 나타난 유아의 그림을 통해서 본 그림책 읽기 경험에 대한 이미지를 분석하는데 있다. 이를 위해 S시, K도, C도의 유아교육기관에 재원 중인 만 4세 유아 97명, 만 5세 유아 118명 등 총 215명을 연구대상으로 선정하였다. 연구방법은 유아들의 그림책 읽기 경험에 대한 그림 그리기, 묘사 및 심층면담을 통해 이루어졌다. 연구결과, 첫째 유아는 그림책 읽기 경험에 대해 주변 사람과 책 읽기, 그림책 자체에 대한 흥미, 책을 통한 지식 습득, 휴식 및 여가의 수단의 긍정적인 경험과 성인의 강요에 의한 읽기와 글자 읽기에 대한 어려움의 부정적인 경험으로 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 유아의 그림책 읽기 경험에 대한 이미지는 만 4세, 만 5세에 따라 차이가 있었으며, 그 중 ‘성인의 강요에 의한 읽기’에 대한 경험이 만 4세보다 만 5세 유아에게서 더 높게 나타났다. 따라서 부모나 교사는 유아가 그림책을 즐길 수 있는 긍정적인 경험이 될 수 있도록 유아의 흥미와 발달을 고려한 책 읽기 환경을 마련해야 한다.

This study analyzes picture book reading experiences through young children's drawings. The participants were 215, four-to five-year-old children who attended day care centers and kindergartens in Seoul, Anyang and Seosan. The research method analyzed pictures painted by children and examined individual interviews with children and teachers. The results of the research are as follows. First, positive aspects were ‘reading book with others’, ‘interest in reading books’, ‘acquiring knowledge’, and ‘experiences of relaxation and leisure’. Second, negative aspects were ‘difficulties of reading letters’, ‘reading picture books forced by an adult’. Young children’s reading experience varied according to whether they were four or five years old. The experience of “‘reading picture books forced by an adult” was five years older than four years old. Therefore, parents and teachers should establish a book reading environment that considers the interest and development of young children so that they can have a positive experience of enjoying picture books.
