청소년 학교중퇴의도 영향요인 : 계획된 행동이론의 적용

Abstract

본 연구는 아이젠(Ajzen)의 계획된 행동이론(Theory of Planned Behavior)에 근거하여 청소년의 학교중퇴의도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 밝힘으로서 청소년 학교중퇴에 대한 개입과 예방 프로그램 개발을 위한 이론적 기반을 제공하고자 하였다 이를 위해 서울시 중고등학교와 대안학교 학생들을 대상으로 설문조사를 진행했고, 237명의 자료를 분석에 활용하였다. 연구결과, 계획된 행동이론의 세 가지 변수인 중퇴행동에 대한 태도, 개인이 인식한 주관적 규범, 인지된 행동통제가 청소년의 학교중퇴의도에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 학교중퇴에 관한 선행연구에서 제시된 학교중퇴 관련요인을 고려하더라도 계획된 행동이론의 세 가지 변수들이 청소년의 학교중퇴의도에 영향을 미치는지를 검토한 결과, 계획된 행동이론에 근거한 중퇴행동에 대한 태도, 개인이 인식한 주관적 규범, 인지된 행동통제만이 학교중퇴의도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 따라서 계획된 행동이론에서 제시하는 이론적 모형이 청소년의 학교중퇴의도에 적용될 수 있다는 것이 확인되었고, 학교중퇴의도를 설명하고 예측하는데 있어서 미약했던 이론적 근거를 확립할 수 있게 되었다.

This study aims to provide theoretical grounds for the prevention and intervention for adolescents in danger of dropping out of school by understanding the factors affecting their intentions regarding dropping out based on Ajzen's Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). The study examined the influence of three variables, attitude towards dropout behavior, perceived subjective norms, and perceived behavioral controls, on the intention of dropping out of school among adolescents. In addition, the study examined whether the effect of these three TPB variables hold true after controlling for factors known to influence decisions to dropout (parents and family factors, peer factors, school circumstances). The study sample included students from middle, high, and alternative schools located in Seoul. A total of 237 students were included in the study. The results of the study are as follows. Firstly, the effect of attitudes toward dropout behavior, perceived subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control on the intentions regarding dropping out of school among adolescents were found to be significant. Secondly, our findings suggested that a theoretical model of TPB can be applied to adolescents' intentions regarding dropping out of school.
