사회경제적 수준에 따른 디지털 교과서 활용이 초등학교 수학교과 학업성취에 미치는 효과

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 디지털 교과서 활용의 학습효과를 학습자의 사회경제적 배경변인들(아버지의 교육수준, 아버지의 직업유형, 지각한 경제적 생활수준, 1인당 방의 소유개수, 도시규모)과 관련하여 검증하려는 데에 있다. 이를 위하여 사회경제적 배경변인에 따라 수학교과 디지털 교과서 활용유형이 수학교과 학업성취도에 영향을 미치는 지를 살펴보았다. 실험참가자는 대도시, 중소행정도시, 중소공단도시 소재 초등학교 3개교 5학년 6개 학급의 총 197명으로 3개 학급이 디지털 교과서 활용 집단에, 다른 3개 학급은 통제집단인 서책형 교과서집단에 배정되었다. 조사 결과 사회경제적배경변인 중 아버지의 교육수준과 도시규모 변인들에서 디지털 교과서로 학습시 수학교과 학업성취에서 의의있는 차이가 나타났다. 먼저 아버지의 교육수준변인과 관련하여 아버지가 대졸이상인 집단에서 아버지가 고졸이하인 집단보다 높은 학업성취를올렸으며, 디지털 교과서를 활용한 집단이 서책형 집단보다 높은 점수를 획득하였다. 또한 도시규모변인과 관련하여 도시규모와 디지털 교과서 활용여부 간에 의미있는상호작용 효과가 나타났다. 대도시와 달리 중소도시 소재 학교에서 아동들이 디지털교과서로 학습한 경우 서책형 교과서로 학습하였을 때 보다 높은 학업성취를 나타냈다. 본 연구결과는 디지털 교과서의 학습효과성이 학습자의 배경변인, 특히 사회경제적 배경변인과 관련하여 이해되는 것이 중요하다는 점을 시사한다.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of using digital textbooks on mathematic academic achievements according to family background, especially for socioeconomic variables. The family background variables included father's school years, father's occupational status, perceived income level, housing density,and citi size that reflects the degree of affluence at neighbourhood. The sample consisted of 197 children at a total of six classroom from three elementary schools. Students at three classrooms were participated in a digital textbook learning environment whereas those at the rest of classrooms in a traditional textbook learning environment. Results show that significant differences were found from two socioeconomic related family background variables(fathers' school years, size of city). First, ANCOVA shows the main effect for type of fathers'school years(college, community college, high school). ANCOVA also shows a main effect for the type of text books (digital, traditional). Second, ANCOVA shows a significant interaction effect between type of city size (large, small) and type of text book(digital, traditional). Students in the digital textbook learning environment earned higher scores on a mathematic test than those in the traditional textbook learning environment. These results were found only at an occasion where the participating school is located at small size city.
