한국축구의 대부, 김용식의 삶

Abstract

이 연구는 한국축구의 대부 김용식의 삶을 알아보기 위해 그의 생애. 축구활동(선수, 지도자, 행정가)에 초점을 맞추어 그가 한국축구의 발전에 어떠한 영향을 미쳤는지를 검토했다. 그 결과 김용식은 일제강점기 일본인들의 견제와 민족차별 속에서 베를린올림픽에 조선인을 대표해 일본국가대표로 출전해 우수한 활약을 보여주며 한민족의 자존심을 고취시켰고 조선인의 우수성을 과시했다. 광복 후 자랑스러운 태극기를 가슴에 달고 런던올림픽에서 선수 겸 코치로 활약했다. 6·25전쟁으로 민족의 수난기와 격변기를 거치며 김용식은 42세의 나이로 현역에서 은퇴했다. 은퇴 후 지도자로서 육군에비사관학교, 공군, 육군, 금성방직, 양지, 국가대표, 할렐루야의 감독을 맡으며 많은 후배를 배출했다. 그는 1만일 개인기 훈련을 통해 철저한 자기관리를 한 진정한 축구인이었다. 김용식은 말 그대로 한국축구발전에 일생을 바쳐 공헌한 한국축구의 대부였다.

The purpose of this study was to examine Korean soccer godfather Kim Yong Sik's life and soccer activity through such materials as newspaper, magazine, book and image data and then look into his historical significance in the development of Korean soccer. Study findings are as follows: In the teeth of Japanese jealousy and racial discrimination in Japanese occupation, Kim Yong Sik took part in Berlin Olympic as a member of Japanese national team representing Koreans and got excellent results, thus promoting the national pride of Korea and displaying the superiority of Koreans. After the liberation of Korea, he took part in London Olympic wearing Korean national flag on his breast as a soccer player and coach. After bearing the Korean War and national suffering with fortitude, Kim Yong Sik retired from a soccer player at the age of 42, while receving honorable treatment. He filled the posts of head person, director and coach in various soccer teams such as Army Reserve Academy, Air Force, Army Headquarters, Geumseong Textile, Yangji, Hallelujah and National Soccer Team and cultivated many soccer players. He seemed to play a great role in many Korean soccer player's advancement into foreign countries for the present.
