IT부문 외국인 직접투자의 지식파급효과 추정

Abstract

Using panel data from eleven OECD countries during 1981～1999, this paper investigates knowledge spillover effects from inward and outward foreign direct investment (FDI) in information technology (IT) sector. The estimation of panel cointegration model shows that, in IT sector, knowledge spills over significantly from countries attracting investment to investing countries through outward FDI. In contrast, spillover effects from investing countries to countries inducing investment through inward FDI are not significant. These results are in clear contrast with the results regarding knowledge spillover effects through inward and outward FDI in non-IT sector.
