고교 물리 선택 이수와 입시전형에 따른 공학계열 대학 신입생의 물리 학업성취도 비교-2017년 C 대학교 공과대학 신입생을 중심으로-

Abstract

본 연구에서는 2017년 C대학교 공학계열 신입생 307명을 대상으로 하여 고교물리 선택 교과목 이수 여부 및 입시전형에 따라 일반물리학 성취도에 어떤 차이가 있는지를 탐색하였다. 입학전형은 학생부교과, 학생부종합(입학사정관), 논술, 정시(수능)의 4가지를 비교하였다. 일반물리학 성취도는 2017년도 1학기와 2학기의 중간고사 및 기말고사 성적을 수집하여 학생들의 1년 동안의 일반물리학 성취도 변화를 알 수 있었다. 본 연구의 결과 공학계열 신입생들은 고등학교 교육과정에서 물리1과 물리2를 모두 이수한 학생들의 일반물리학 성적이 가장 높게 나타났으며, 물리1을 이수한 학생들도 이와 유사하게 높은 성취를 나타냈다. 반면 고교 물리 선택을 이수하지 않은 학생들은 1년 동안 지속적으로 낮은 성취를 나타냈다. 입학전형에 따른 일반물리학 성적은 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 나타내지 않았다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 고교 물리 선택 이수를 하지 않은 학생들을 위한 대학 일반물리 교육과정의 개선과 입학전형 차이에 따른 신입생의 특성을 반영한 차별화된 교육과정의 필요성을 제언하였다.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the difference in the achievement of general physics according to the selection of high school physics course and college admission type such as ‘high school GPA’, ‘admission officer’, ‘essay’, and ‘SAT’. We collected students’ general physics scores during a year. The results of this study were as follows: First, the students who completed both Physics 1 and Physics 2 had the highest scores in general physics. On the other hand, students who did not select Physics 1 or Physics 2 during the high school curriculum had consistently under-performed during the first year of a college. There was no statistically significant difference between the general physics scores by admission type of college entrance. Based on these results, it was suggested that the improvement of college general physics curriculum for students who did not choose Physics 1 or Physics 2 and the necessity of differentiated curriculum reflecting the characteristics of freshmen due to the difference of admission type.
