영화에 나타난 연대의 추구 비교 연구 - <카트>와 <내일을 위한 시간>을 중심으로

Abstract

다원화된 현대 사회에서 개인이 공동체에 느끼는 소속감과 안정감은 점점 미약해지고 있다. 그 현상은 집단적인 연대를 대표하던 노동자 계급에서도 나타난다. 이 연구는 영화 <카트>와 <내일을 위한 시간>을 비교 분석하면서 오늘날 구조 속 개인의 모습을 파악하고 개인이 자신의 삶을 지켜나가기 위해 타자와 연대해 나가는 방법과 과정을 분석한다. 이랜드 사태를 다룬 <카트>는 노사의 대치구도를 통해 한국 사회의 갑을관계와 젠더문제까지 조명하고 있다. 그 과정에서 여성노동자들이 자매애를 바탕으로 연대해가는 모습이 그려진다. <카트>는 노사문제를 약자들의 관점에서 전통적인 선악의 대립구도로 파악하며 연대문제에 접근한다. 반면 <내일을 위한 시간>에서는 다양한 입장과 관점이 변주된다. 경제적 이익과 윤리적 책임 사이의 선택 문제를 통해 이 영화는 타자의 입장에 공감할 수 있는가, 나아가 오늘날 연대는 가능한가를 묻는다. 전자는 연대의 힘과 당위성을 역설하고, 후자는 연대의 조건과 가능성을 물으면서 오늘날의 연대에 대해 사유하도록 한다.

We find today in our diverse society the weakening of people's sense of stability and also belonging to a community. This phenomenon is evident in the working class, which has been considered to represent collective solidarity for the past several decades. This study aims to observe how the individuals behave and react in the different labor settings properly depicted in the Korean film "Cart" and the French one "Two Days, One Night", and to examine how they bond together in each situation in order to survive. "Cart" takes the E-land incident. It touches labor issue and gender conflict from the viewpoint of disadvantaged people. Here we take a look at the relations among them with respect to power and gender. An unfair dismissal of some female workers gives them an opportunity to fight together and find themselves homogeneous and fraternal. They bond together emotionally, and go further to remedy the problems lying ahead through collective actions. While the film "Cart" focuses on the unity and coherence of actions among the working people, "Two Days, One Night" shows their divergent positions and points of view. Basically it is a matter of choice between economic interest and ethical responsibility. It gives us the questions like these: Is it possible to sympathize with others? What should we choose between our interest and ethical responsibility? Is solidarity feasible in society today? While "Cart" describes the power and the merits of solidarity, "Two days, one night" questions the conditions and hints at the difficulty of solidarity to form. These two cinematographic works allow us to ask what solidarity means and how it influences our society.
