The purpose of this study is to investigate the features of discourse coherence and cohesion in young learners’ storytelling samples. 27 samples from three storytelling tasks were analyzed: personal photo description, wordless picture book narration and story stem. This study explored what kinds of cohesive markers (reference, conjunction, lexical) were frequently used in storytelling. Also, global dimension of coherence was examined in each sample. It was found that most young learners made more cohesive and coherent stories in the task of story stem. Personal markers and additive conjunctions were frequently used while other markers seldom appeared.-
