Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to develop a new Korean version of the Leisure Motivation Scale-Adolescent(LMS-A) by modifying the one originally proposed by Baldwin and Caldwell(2003). In order to reflect culture difference, this study was focused on process of translation. Namely translation course have enforced(first translation, reverse translation, commitment translation). Statistical procedures included descriptive statistic, factor analysis, internal consistency. Cronbach's Alpha was calculated to test the reliability of items and their internal consistency. The LMS-A was explored with intrinsic motivation factor(4 items), introjected regulation factor(3 items), identified regulation factor(3 items), and amotivation factor(2 items) through the exploratory factor analysis. Confirmatory factor analysis revealed a good fit of the hypothesized model to the data that were identified by examining residuals and modification indices(total; 12 items). Overall, the results demonstrated cross-cultural diversity of leisure motivation and the need further refinement of the measure.
