dc.description.abstractCalcium exchange by natural zeolite was investigated in relation to the coexistence of other cation (Na+and/or K+). Although some zeolite (e.g., clinoptilolite) have a good affinity and selectivity for calcium ions,other cations in the solution have a negative impact on the calcium exchange. The exchange capacitydecreased significantly according to the increase of Na+ and/or K+ concentrations, however the decreasingextent was not similar between two different ion species. It was estimated that K+ possessed more affinitywas tested as the regeneration brine, and found that 3.8% of NaCl showed the optimal concentration fordesorbing calcium ions.-
