Abstract

Out of many other varieties of white balance setting methods, majority of photographers prefer ‘custom white balance setting’ that allows them to adjust the nature of illumination source and color temperature according to their photographing environment. Complementary tools such as Gray Card are widely used to maximize ‘custom white balance setting’. Aside from Gray Card, there are many other complementary tools that are in markets nowadays. Although many photographers utilize different tools for the same purpose, that is, ‘custom white balance setting,’ they have their own preferences depending on their personal experiences. Therefore it is not available to find reliable analyses, conducted for users to compare objectively the efficiency of these tools. Therefore, the main goal for this experiment is to compare and to analyze tools that are mainly used for ‘white balance setting’ under various illumination settings to provide more objective and effective information for user. I hope this work would become a part of cornerstone for photographers who utilize digital cameras to represent more precise color images and to minimize all the adjustment processes that inevitably require to make images the closest to reality.
