어포던스 관점에서 디지털 교과서 사용편의성에 영향을 미치는 요인분석 연구

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 어포던스 이론의 관점에서 디지털 교과서의 사용편의성에 영향을 미치는 요인을 탐색적으로 살펴보려는 것이다. 특히, 본 연구에서는 최근 디지털 교과서 활용에 대한 관심이 증가함에 따라 이를 보다 유의미한 학습을 지원하는 교수학습도구로 활용하기 위해서 어포던스 관점에서 디지털 교과서의 어떠한 요인이 학습활동을 유발하거나 지원하는지를 조사하는 것을 주요 연구문제로 설정하였다. 이를 위하여 초등학교 5학년 총 100명의 학생들을 대상으로 수학교과 디지털 교과서를 통해 4개 차시를 학습하도록 한 후 디지털 교과서 사용 편의성과 관련된 설문을 실시하였다. 사용 편의성에 관한 설문지는 어포던스에 관한 선‰유의미결과를 참조하여 총 26개의 문항을 작성하여 사용하였다. 요인분석결과 디지털 교과서 사용 편의성에 영향을 미치는 어포던스 요인들로 상호작용적 멀티미디어, 인터페이스 디자인, 인지적 조작 및 물리적 조작의 네 가지 요인이 추출되었다. 이들 가운데에서 디지털 교과서의 사용편의성에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 어포던스 요인은 인터페이스 디자인, 상호작용적 멀티미디어, 인지적 조작, 물리적 조작 요인의 순으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 어포던스 관점에서 디지털 교과서의 사용편의성에 영향을 미치는 고유한 요인들이 있다는 점을 시사한다. 특히 인터페이스 디자인이 디지털 교과서의 사용편의성에 가장 큰 영향을 미친 반면에 물리적 조작요인이 가장 적은 영향을 미친다는 점을 고려할 때, 추후연구에서는 학습자가 지각하기에 편리한 인터페이스를 디자인하는 것과 함께 물리적 조작의 편리성에 관한 어포던스 요인들을 밝히기 위한 연구들이 수행될 필요가 있다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate factors that affect the usability of digital text book based on affordance theories. This study, therefore, focuses on finding main factors that trigger and support students' learning activities when they study with a digital textbook. Participants in this study were a total of 100 5th grade students from three elementary schools. Four factors were identified after conducing the exploratory factor analysis. The identified factors included interface design, interactive multimedia, cognitive operation, and physical operation. Interface design was the most important factor affecting the usability of digital textbook while physical operation was the least important factor. Given the importance of interface design as a type of affordance that affect usability at studying digital textbooks, future studies should examine design principles that helps students perceive interface of digital textbook easily with less physical efforts.
