The main purpose of the paper is to investigate the presence of the straw effects of high-speed train in Korea. In particular, the paper has attempted to address two research questions: Does KTX have contributed in increasing population concentration into the Capital Region? Does KTX have caused in resulting the depression of market area in the Non-Capital Region? It turns out that the straw effects of KTX have, based on the some indicators and the existing studies, no acceptable evidence so far. The paper concluded an unsatisfaction of regional effects of the KTX has caused people respond to the straw effects so sensitively, and further suggested the necessity of a new regional development policy to utilize the potential of KTX.-
