The verb cochta is a deictic verb designating the directional orientation of the speaker and addressee in discourse. The modern verbs cochta and ccochta originated from the middle Korean verb form of cochta meaning ‘follow’ Language users make a lot of mistakes in orthography with regard to cochta and ccochta. It is claimed that orthographic fallacies are caused by a semantic fallacy. The scalar auxiliary particle cocha also originated from the middle Korean verb cochta. Language users show a substitution fallacy of cocha in place of mace/kkaci. This article claims that the substitution fallacy of cocha also resulted from a semantic fallacy. The mechanisms of grammaticalization are the best tools to analyze such orthorgraphic and substitutional fallacies induced by semantic confusion.-
