Abstract
A greatdealofresearchhasbeenmadetomodelthevaguenessanduncertaintyin informationretrieval.Onesuchresearchis fuzzyrankingmodels,which have been showing theirsuperiorperformancein handling theuncertaintyinvolved intheretrieval process.In thisstudywe develop a new fuzzyrankingmodel basedon theuserpreference.Throughtheexperimentson theTREC-2collectionofWallStreetJournaldocuments,weshow thattheproposedmethodoutperformstheconventionalfuzzyrankingmodels.
