dc.description.abstractFacile and efficient synthesis of 1-chloro-2-hydroxy haloydrin derivatives are newly developed. Reaction of epoxide with aluminum chloride hexahydrate under microwave irradiation conditions smoothly furnished 1-chloro-2-hydroxy halohydrin compounds in high yields in 90-120 sec reaction times. Along with regioselective reaction and environmentally friendly nature of the present protocol should serves as useful alternatives to the existing halohydrin formation by epoxide ring opening reactions.-
