dc.description.abstract | Background As an aged population is rapidly growing in our society, it is crucial to understand domestic research trends on aging visual perception and spatial design for seniors. Methods This study aims to analyze and review domestic literature regarding an aging visual perception and spatial design in the recent 20 years. A keyword search was conducted in academic databases for peer-reviewed journals, and 125 articles were systematically analyzed. A network of extracted keywords was analyzed to examine how research topics were interrelated. Research trends were analyzed in the frameworks of published year, research topics, objectives, and methodologies. Results In the keyword network analysis, 'care facilities' and 'universal design' were found to be important. However, color and lighting studies appeared to be fragmentary in the entire network. Most research fabricated existing studies to provide theory and design guidelines, or evaluating the space on site. Methodologies were mixed, which include literature reviews and on-site studies, case studies, comparative analysis, and preference or mood surveys for colors. Conclusions Studies should be supplemented by empirical, fundamental studies based on scientific evidence with interdisciplinary approaches. © 2020 Korean Society of Design Science. | - |
