성별, 연령에 따른 구강안면근력의 변화: 국내 건강한 성인을 대상으로

Abstract

목적 : 본 연구는 국내 건강한 성인을 대상으로 구강안면근력을 측정하여 표준치를 제시하고 성별, 연령에 따른근력 변화에 대해 알아보고자 하였다. 연구방법 : 2012년 5월부터 2013년 1월까지 20~89세의 건강한 성인 341명을 대상으로 아이오와 구강 수행도구(Iowa Oral Performance Instrument; IOPI)를 사용하여 구강안면근력을 측정하였다. 측정부위는 구강안면근으로 혀의 전·후방 거상, 좌·우측 볼근, 입술로 각각 3회 측정 후 그 평균값을 측정하였다. 결과 : 1) 성별에 따른 건강한 성인 구강안면근력의 차이는 남성이 여성에 비해 강한 근력을 보였다(p<.01). 2) 연령이 증가할수록 구강안면근력은 유의하게 저하된 것을 알 수 있었다(p<.01). 결론 : 본 연구를 통해 구강안면근력의 표준치를 알아보았으며 성별, 연령에 따른 근력 변화는 삼킴을 치료하는데있어 기본적 지침으로 환자의 현재 상태를 파악하는 것은 물론 나아가 치료방향을 고려하는데 있어 도움을 줄수 있을 것이다.

Objective : This study measured the orofacial muscular strength of healthy adults residing in a domestic area in Korea. By investigating the differences in orofacial muscular strength in relation to gender and age, this study attempted to look at factors influencing their swallowing skills. Methods : Using an Iowa Oral Performance Instrument (IOPI), the orofacial muscular strength was measured for 341 healthy adults with ages ranging from 20 to 89 from May 5, 2012. to Jan. 1,2013. Specifically, the strength of the forward and back elevations of their tongue, their buccinator muscle strength, and their lip strength were each measured three times, and the average score of each was then calculated. Results : The findings show that 1) the orofacial muscular strength of healthy Korea men is stronger than that of Korean women (p<.01), and 2) the older the participants are, the weaker their orofacial strength, regardless of their gender (p<.01). Conclusion : The IOPI scores of the participants showed that their orofacial muscular strength is affected by their age and gender, which may help guide future swallowing treatments.
