미국영화 「날개(Wings)」를 패러디한 李箱의 소설 「날개」 고찰

Abstract

소설 「날개」는 李箱이 1936년 9월 『朝光』에 발표하였는데, 이 작품은 1929년에 조선에서 상영된 미국영화 「날개(wings)」의 패러디로 볼 수 있다. 그 근거는양자의 제목이 동일하고, 서사의 근간이 모두 청춘남녀의 연애담을 ‘오해’라는코드를 중심으로 풀어가고 있으며, 무엇보다도 양자의 시각적 이미지가 유사하기 때문이다. 李箱의 소설 「날개」에 있어서 시각적 이미지란 이 작품에 수록된李箱의 자작삽화들을 말한다. 그러나 미국영화 「날개(Wings)」는 전쟁을 배경으로 청춘남녀가 오해를 解消하고 사랑을 성취해 가는 과정을 그린 해피엔딩의'코메디'라 할 수 있는 반면, 李箱의 소설 「날개」는 싸워 지켜야 하는 ‘국가’도없고, ‘자동차’나 ‘비행기’ 등, 근대적 문명의 기기도 갖추어지지 않은, 즉, 근대화의 초입에 머물러 있는 식민지 조선의 젊은이가 골방에서 ‘손님을 맞는’ 아내에 寄生해 살면서 그녀의 직업이 무엇인지를 알면서, 아내의 정체에 대해 의심하는 척(?) 하면서 비참한 현실을 견디기 위해 ‘자기위조’의 이야기를 꾸미는내용의, 일종의 ‘블랙코메디’라 할 수 있다. 패러디와 블랙코메디는 로만 야콥슨에 의하면 포스트모더니즘 예술의 지배소인데, 패러디는 외부에 실재하는 절대적 진리로서가 아니라, 주체의 해석 여하에 따라 전혀 다르게 인식될 수 있는세계를 형상화하는데 유용하며, 풍자의 한 방식으로서 블랙코메디는 보편적 도덕률 대신 자유로운 정신의 미학적 실험을 추구하는 탈근대적 에토스에 뿌리를내린 탈근대적 예술의 주요 창작기법이다. 소설 「날개」는 미국영화 「날개(wings)」를 패러디하여, 근대문명에 기반을 둔 자본주의의 최강국인 미국의 젊은이들의 현실과, 식민지 조선의 젊은이들의 현실 사이에 존재하는 간극을 극명하게보여줌으로써, 비동일한 세계의 동시공존이라는 현실에 저항하고 동일성에 근거한 근대성 논의를 비판함으로서 탈근대로 비월해가는 작가 李箱의 의식적저항을 고스란히 보여준다. 이런 맥락에서 李箱의 「날개」의 근저에는 세계가明證한 사실관계와 역사적 因果法則에 의해 구성되는 것이 아니라, 복잡하고도우연적인 관계망에 의해 드러나기에 어떤 인식도 하나의 가능한 해석일 뿐, 객관적 진리는 존재하지 않는다고 본 니체의 철학이 자리해 있다고 할 수 있다.

This Thesis assumes The Wings written by Sang Lee in Korea is works as a parody of American movie Wings by directed William A. Wellman in 1927. So This research purposed to show how to be similar The Wings written by Sang Lee and American movie Wings. And What is different between the novel The Wings written by Lee Sang and American movie Wings. And Why Sang Lee made a parody works from American movie Wings. First of all, the name of two are same. Secondly, the power of the narrative of two masterpieces are misunderstanding of main characters, male and female. The story of two masterpieces are based on love story of youngsters. But movie Wings is kind of comedy, but novel The Wings is black-comedy. Because The Wings written by Lee Sang in Korea was revealed severe satire on the ages and society as a colonialized state. That was a kind of parody of American movie Wings. Parody is a method of recreative and translation of the original. That means the recognition of something is kind of interpretation of something, and there are nothing unchangeable truth. Parody seems to show us to be available something was born in the past as a different meaning. So parody was appeared in post-modern arts. Thirdly, The Wings written by Sang Lee in Korea has two cuts of illustration. Then those are very similar to scenes of American movie Wings. Sang Lee drawn by himself those illustration. Because he gave the descendents some hint to understand or solve his abstruse masterpiece as an parody of American movie Wing. Also it seems to be Sang Lee want to show us how far between Korean and American situations on those times.
