그림책을 활용한 배려활동이 유아의 자아존중감 및 친사회적 행동에 미치는 효과

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 그림책을 활용한 배려활동이 유아의 자아존중감 및 친사회적 행동에 미치는 효과를 알아보기 위한 것이다. 연구대상은 서울시 어린이집 2곳의 유아 30명(실험집단 15명, 비교집단 15명)이며, 평균원령은 57.5개월이었다. 실험집단유아들은 7주에 걸쳐 그림책읽기 활동과 연계된 배려활동에 참여하였고, 비교집단 유아들은 그림책 읽기 활동을 실시하였다. 사전·사후검사를 통해 수집된 자료는 SPSS 18.0프로그램을 사용하여 집단간 차이를 분석하였다. 연구결과 실험집단이 비교집단 보다 자아존중감 및 친사회적 행동점수에서 유의하게 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 그림책을 활용한 배려활동이 유아의 자아존중감과 친사회적 행동 향상에 긍정적인 효과를 가지고 올 수 있음을 시사한다.

This research aims to examine the effects caring activities which utilize picture books have on young children’s self-esteem and pro-social behavior. The subjects of this research include 30 children (15 children in experimental group; 15 children in control group) from childcare centers in Seoul, whose average age was 57.5 months. Over 7 weeks, the children in experimental group participated in caring activities that are linked with picture book activities. To measure the group differences, the data collected before and after the experiment using self-esteem and pro-social behavior scales was analyzed using SPSS 18.0. The analyzed data revealed that experimental group have significantly higher score on self-esteem and pro-social behavior scales than control group. Such result indicates caring activities using picture books have positive effects on promoting self-esteem and pro-social behavior of young children.
