심리적 지표 평가에 의한 도시와 옥상정원, 숲의 경관 비교

Abstract

본 연구에서는 도시, 옥상정원, 숲의 경관을 회복환경, 주의회복, 초월적 경험의 3가지 심리적 지표로 비교하고자 하였다. 대학생 221명에게 도시, 옥상정원, 숲의 경관사진을 각각 10장씩 총 30장을 보여주었다. 각 사진을 본 뒤 참가자들은 회복환경 지각척도 단축판, 주의회복척도, 초월적경험척도를 작성하였다. 3가지 심리적 지표의 총평균을 구해본 결과 숲이 가장 월등했고, 옥상정원이 숲보다 약간 낮았으며,도시가 가장 나빴다. 이 총평균 차이에 대해 대응표본 t 검증을 실시한 결과, 숲-도시 간 총평균 차가 가장컸고 숲-옥상정원 간 총평균 차가 가장 작았다. 3가지 심리적 지표에 대한 도시/옥상정원/숲 간 상관을구해본 결과, 옥상정원은 도시와 유의한 상관을 보였을 뿐 아니라, 숲과는 훨씬 크고 유의한 상관을 보였다. 본 연구 결과로 볼 때, 옥상정원이 도시에 비해 심리적 혜택이 월등하고, 숲과 비교해도 크게 뒤지지않는다고 추론할 수 있다. 본 연구는 옥상정원이 휴식 및 재충전 기능과 관련 있는 회복환경 및 주의회복지표뿐 아니라, 초월적 경험 지표에서도 숲 못지않게 효과가 있을 가능성을 보여준다.

The purpose of this study is to compare urban, green roof, and forest scenes on three psychological indices, that is, restorative environment, attentional recovery, and transcendent experience. The pictures of 30 scenes, or 10 urban, 10 green roof, and 10 forest scenes were presented to 221 undergraduates. After viewing each picture, the participants completed Short Version of Perceived Restorativeness Scale, Recovery Scale, and Transcendent Experience Scale. The grand means for three psychological indices indicated that forest scenes were much the best, green roof scenes were a little inferior to forest scenes, and urban scenes were the worst. Paired-samples t tests for the differences in grand means showed that the differences between forest and urban scenes were the biggest, and the differences between forest and green roof scenes were the smallest. The correlations for three psychological indices between green roof and urban scenes were significant,and moreover, the correlations between green roof and forest scenes were much bigger and significant. The results of this study suggest that green roof scenes provide far more psychological benefits than urban scenes, and these benefits keep up with those of forest scenes. This study shows the possibility that green roof scenes may be no less effective than forest scenes, not only in restorative environment and attentional recovery index, which are related to rest and recreation, but also in transcendent experience index.
