『劉孝公善行錄』의 인물에 대한 共感과 距離化의 讀書心理

Abstract

이 논문은 인물에 대한 敍述視角에 주목하여 이러한 敍述視角이 인물에 대한 독자들의 心理的 共感과 距離化를 불러일으키는 양상과 讀書心理를 논의하는 것이 목적이다. 유연은 孝友寬仁한 아들과 융통성 없는 固滯한 家父長의 모습으로 형상화되고, 우성은 배려 깊고 다정다감한 아들의 모습과 육체적 욕망에 의해 폭력을 휘두르는 남편의 모습으로 형상화된다. 이 때문에 여성 독자는 두 명의 남성 인물에 대해 心理的 共感과 距離感을 동시에 느낄 수 있으며 孝友意識과 家父長, 남성의 모습에 대한 문제제기를 해볼 수 있다. 또한 여성인물인 정씨는 정신적으로나 육체적으로나 고통을 당하는 약한 피해자의 모습으로, 유순함과 婦德을 갖춘 사대부 여성의 전형으로, 성숙한 인격체로 형상화된다. 여성 독자가 정씨에게 共感하는 것은 유교사회의 여성적 현실을 반영하고, 여성이 가지고 있는 사회적 인정욕구를 충족시키며, 여성 독자들이 꿈꾸는 理想的 자아의 모습을 발견할 수 있기 때문이다.

This paper focuses on the narrative perspective on the characters, and aims to discuss how such perspective gives rise to readers' psychology of identifying with and/or distancing themselves from the characters. Yuyeon is described as an ambivalent man: a generous and devoted son and a strongheaded and patriarchal father. Wooseong also shows two opposite characteristics: a considerate and warmhearted son and a violent husband who cannot control his physical urges. That is why female readers identify with the two men, while distancing themselves from the men, and raise questions about filial affection, patriarchy, and male nature. In addition, female character Jeong is described as a victim who suffers physically and mentally from men, as a typical woman of the Confucius society who obeys to men, and as a mature person. The reason why female readers identify with Jeong is that she represents women's status in the Confucius society, satisfies women's social desire and shows an ideal self-image that female readers aspire to.
