Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the web as a method of culture teaching in university English classes. The research was implemented for 16 weeks with 38 Korean students. A questionnaire was used to find out the effects of students' perceptions and attitudes toward using the web for learning about American culture. In addition, in-depth interviews were conducted to support the findings that were insufficient by the questionnaire alone. Results indicated that over half of the students showed interest in the web-based class, and most of the students regarded the web itself as a useful learning method. As for the students' attitudes, around half of them actively participated in the class, and web-based cultural learning raised the students' ability to guide self-learning. On the basis of the results, the study suggested some guidelines for using the web as a method of culture teaching in English education.
