Abstract
Four-baryon point interactions with Delta T = 3/2 component are suggested as a new model for the short-range part of the nonmesonic decay of hyper nuclei. For the long-range part we used the traditional one-pion exchange model. The result of our calculation and fitting for the total and partial decay rates and the ratio Gamma(n)/Gamma(p) of the hypernuclei He-4(Lambda) and He-5(Lambda) shows that they are in good agreement with the experimental data.
